Students in Mrs. Brougher's AP Environmental Science and Mr. Benton's AP Chemistry courses had a fantastic opportunity to visit the Conemaugh Generating Station. The friendly folks at this coal fired powerplant gave students a first hand look at the environmental aspects of power generation, compliance, and sustainability as well as a deep dive into the many chemistry principles involved in treating exhaust gas, water, fuel management and spent fuel disposal. These operators do their jobs excellently and were very gracious with their time in sharing this seldom seen part of our everyday lives.
