College Tests
Four-year colleges and universities require applicants to take either the SAT I, or the ACT admissions tests as part of the application process. Most students take those examinations two times -- once in the spring of the junior year and again in the fall of the senior year. Some colleges also require students to take SAT II subject tests in their senior year. There is, however, no limit to the number of times a person may take the tests.
The PSAT is given each year in October to allow juniors and other underclassmen to experience a practice exam before taking the SAT I in the spring of their junior year. It is also used as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Registration for the PSAT is handled through the Guidance Office. Students can contact Guidance Office to obtain Exam Registration information. When the student registers, he will receive an information packet that contains a sample test. Call the Guidance Office for PSAT exam date.
The guidance office has some practice materials available for the SAT. Local colleges and other private providers also offer preparation classes. For information about these courses, contact the provider directly.
